Hi!
I have a laptop at work with KDE and Gnome (I have not decided totally yet). Using a laptop at work means that I have docking-stations and beamers and can switch display several times a day. I cannot pretent this is flawless and I think there is still things to do here.
One thing I need for a start is to be able to reset the display to the laptop-display (the one always there) even if screen is locked. This implies that I need to connect a keyboard event (probably Control + Print-Screen) to a script running "xrandr" while in locked mode.
The script is no problem, I already have that one working. The problem I have is that the screen-locker (at least for KDE) seems to catch all keyboard events. I tried using xbindkeys to put entries in a logfile and it works unless screen is locked.
Does anyone know a way to make the screen locker pass certain keyboard events on to the X-system, or if there is another way to trigger the scripts (hook into DBus, HAL or UDev?) while screen is locked? I wounder for both KDE and Gnome, and are willing to configure other screen-lockers if that is needed.
Regards,
