Hi All,

When I boot off of the LiveCD it automagically detects my hardware and then loads the appropriate modules. How does it do that? Can my install do that as well?

Thanks,
P

Maybe if you do the genkernel method of building your kernel

it does something with initrd or something like that...

it takes forever to do the genkernel though.... it builds all kinds of obscure modules that you wouldnt make if you knew what your hardware was...

you might be able to customize the modules to remove ones that you know you wont have to make it faster...
