as the topic says my gentoo doesnt have a cdrom (nor any scsi) dev present yet the /dev directory structure is all there. I cannot figure out how or where to grab these from.
My cdrom is the primary master (ide) and is correctly being detected as hda during kernel loading (though i cannot mount it), with the HDD being hdc on the secondary master. (short cables etc)
The cd is also a CDRW so i dont know how this affects things, above EG do i configure this device as a single scsi device or as an IDE & a scsi device. I realise the cd burner sw requires to be fooled into thinking its dealing with scsi gear, as per the instructions iv read elsewhere, but im not too sure of the last part. (once i have said files/sym links in place) |
