hi,
I have this problem with empathy that when I try to place a call immediately crashes with the following message:

ERROR:empathy-video-widget.c:130:empathy_video_widget_constructed: assertion failed: (sink != NULL)
Aborted

I googled to a little bit and the closest I could relate to was this post:

Apprently is related to gstreamer but I am unable to get further, the post suggests to try two commands to which I get this results:
| Code: | gst-inspect-0.10 gconfvideosink
No such element or plugin 'gconfvideosink' |
and
| Code: | gconftool-2 --get /system/gstreamer/0.10/default/videosink
No value set for `/system/gstreamer/0.10/default/videosink' |
The guy apparently fixes it by installing gst-plugins-good:

But I have it installed as well and still get the error I've also installed gst-plugin-meta just in case, but didn't fix the problem.
I also teste with different version of telepathy.
Anybody know what's going on in here? Do I have gstreamer misconfigured?

solved,
I needed to install media-plugins/gst-plugins-gconf and that fixed the problem. But still it wasn't pulled by empathy. However someone on freenode said that he notified the ebuild maintainer and was fixed today. |
