|

Hello,
I have been using vserver to run several services in isolated environments.
The host installation follows the gentoo stable tree (baselayout 1) and the vservers are based on these stages, as recommended on the gentoo vserver howto (baselayout 2 + openrc).
My kernel version is 2.6.32, using vserver patch version 2.3.0.36.28, however I had the same issue using gentoo's stable vserver-sources ebuild, when I tried months ago.
The problem that I have is that both the host and the vservers share the same namespace for the hostname, so, once it is set through the hostname command (and gentoo's hostname init script) in any installation (host or vserver), it is set globally, in the context of every machine.
Since this didn't cause me trouble so far, I ignored the problem, however now that I want to setup central logging it causes me an inconvenience since I can not identify the syslog messages of the seperate vservers through their hostname.
I was wondering whether this is some known issue or a configuration problem on my part, and if there is some solution.
Thanks in advance |

Hello,
unmasking:
package.keywords
=sys-cluster/util-vserver-0.30.216_pre2883
to match recent vserver patches for kernel works for me |
