|
|
Hi there!
I've just installed a new Gentoo from a stage 3 tarball following the steps given in the documentation. But when I tried to first boot I got:
Code: |
The "mount" command failed with error
Only root can do that
|
The boot process is then stopped, I give the root password and have a bash shell. If I try a "mount" I get the same error (Only root can do that) wheras I am root (uid=0) !
Any ideas ?

did you set up your root password during the install process? Also, have you tried to su before you mount? If not, do that and it will ask you for your password. Enter it and it should make you #. _________________ If you're being chased by a bear remember: you don't have to outrun

I found what the problem was: I forgot the -p option when I untar the tarball and the permission/ownership of the "mount" program were incorrect. |
