/proc/splash: missing?

I'm working my way though the install again 1 booboo at a time.
Reinstalling (4th time) 2.4.20-gentoo-r5 GRP
(never got gentoo booting from install yet)
First error is
/proc/splash: No such file or directory.
cdimage root #

I'm guessing the splash is a splash screen, so perhaps not important.
True??

I have seen that in the past. Never has any negitive effects. Were you booting off the CD?
