First off, I can play my video files with mplayer. This is a problem with gnome/totem itself.
I used to be able to watch mkv files with totem, until the recent gnome upgrade. I changed no use flags, only did a sync and emerge upgrade. I've looked for a missing use flag, tried installing gst-plugins-x264 (had to unmask it) but can't get this to work anymore. mkvinfo shows the video is encoded as
Code: | Codec ID: V_MPEG4/ISO/AVC |
What am I missing?

Found this post that solved my problem: Totem won't play mp4 or flv
Adding the ffmpeg use flag to gst-plugins-meta fixed it. |
