During the install of gentoo 1.4, my NIC worked fine. I could get online and download everything that I needed. Now though after the install, I can't even ping my router. If I ping anything other than my computer I get a destination host unreachable error.

This is the output of ifconfig:
Quote:

eth0 Link encap:Ethernet HWaddr 00:50:BA:B3:3D:9E
inet addr:192.168.10.154 Bcast:192.168.10.255 Mask:255.255.255.0
inet6 addr: fe80::250:baff:feb3:3d9e/10 Scope:Link
UP BROADCAST RUNNING MULTICAST MTU:1500 Metric:1
RX packets:0 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 frame:0
TX packets:0 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 carrier:0
collisions:0 txqueuelen:100
RX bytes:0 (0.0 b) TX bytes:0 (0.0 b)
Interrupt:10 Base address:0xe000

My IP, broadcast, and subnet mask are set correctly. I set the gateway to my router in /etc/config.d/net. The output of route seems correct. There is something strange in the dmesg output though.

Does anyone know how to fix this?

disabling ipv6 and rebooting; or try to force the network card into half-duplex mode.

Also, try to compare the output of ifconfig, route -n, and dmesg between the Live CD and the system boot.

Fixed it. Had to use pci=noacpi.
