At the risk of sounding even stoopider than I am, here goes...
Got my gentoo up+running after a week or so of buggering about. Top fun.
Now, the live-cd, after I run the net-setup script EXACTLY TWICE, will connect to the web via the office DSL router. I can emerge stuff. My installation, even after I've run a script to specify all the ifconfig stuff etc., and have verified that eth0 is up'n'running, refuses even to ping my router with the message Host Unreachable or somesuch.
The only difference between the two setups I can see is that the live-cd has IvP6 tunnelling, and my kernel-config does not.
Anyway, as running net-setup (twice, for some reason) off the live cd works, where is it??? How do I copy it to my gentoo install. I can't find it on the live-cd anywhere.
Everything I specify to net-setup I replicate in my ifconfig script, but no joy.
nvnet is running as a module, methinks there is some pppoe stuff I've missed. Any ideas? |

Thanks. Still no joy though.
I can bring up eth0, ifconfig confirms it's up and running, but the HWaddr is shown as FF:C0:00:00:00:00, whereas the live-cd reports HWaddr 00:30:1B:AF:30:C1.
lsmod shows the nvnet module loaded but unused. When I boot and connect off the live cd it's loaded and used.
Recompiling the nvnet module has no effect.
In my kernel config I have, under Network Device Support, Ethernet (10 or 100Mbit) compiled into the kernel. Should this be a module instead if I am later loading the nvnet module at boot?
Any suggestions apprciated. |
