Going through on my first gentoo install from a stage 1. Got up to the bit where I have to emerge xfree-xdm and it's failed with this error:

I have VIDEO_CARDS="matrox" in my /etc/make.conf

Have I missed anything?

This box has a Matrox G400Max DH and is a dual celeron (Abit BP6) machine. I don't think I've installed an smp kernel yet. Is there a way I can find out whether I have btw? I wanted to get a working system then try to install it.

oh, it also says this a few pages up:
Quote:

[ ok ]1R6/bin/mkfontdir: unable to process font //usr/X11R6/lib/X11/fonts/misc/Xlat9-9x16-lat9.pcf.gz, skipping

Help! :)

Thanks
