Today I picked up a router (specifically the Binatone ADSL 2100). Opening it up, one can see an ARM9 processor inside. I wonder what I could do with this? How can I get started on installing linux onto it?
Well I expect it would need to boot off a network, since there doesn't seem to be any kind of mass storage on the board... |

Take a look at the OpenWrt Project. Or, you could Google Open Source Router Distribution.

Ah, it's nice to see that people have done this kind of thing.
There don't appear to be any guides for my specific router though, I suppose I'll just have to work it out by trial and error like many others have
That said; is it such that although the label on the box says Binatone 2100 or whatever it is, that the board itself is not proprietary, only sourced by binatone and put in a plastic shell – so that another router is practically identical? |
