Hello. I just finished installed gentoo and I love it already. Since I started the installation I thought about questions to pose to you but I've forgot some of them, mainly those that appeared in my mind before christmas. Anyway, I remember this particular one that kind of upsets me a bit:

Why does portage doesn't have humorous references to Larry the cow with ASCII graphics?
Why Larry the cow is neglected to the point that there isn't one package alone with its name like: "larry-wallpapers". Proof:

Quote:
emerge --search larry
Searching...
[ Results for search key : larry ]
[ Applications found : 0 ]

One more thing: during the installation of some packages, additional information is given like:

"to make this program run on boot do ..."
"you don't have X package installed, without it this one is unsupported"
"don't forget to do something after ..."
"this package's coder do not code as well as we do so this program may have random behaviour despite compiling just fine"

Since sometimes when we do emerge it can install a bunch of packages and meanwhile I go traveling across Europe, I think you should make it keep these messages in a file specially built for this and you could also create a KDE applet to show them live.

Thanks.

Ah yes Larry the cow, the bovine mascot of our distribution. Larry may be a female with a male's name, but we love him anyway.

He can save your eyes, by helping you stop staring at the endless compiling on the screen....

You can also emerge cowsay.

Cowsay <your text here> will make larry say your text.

Ha, I think that if you have a bunch of quality wallpapers with Larry, someone would love to include them in portage. :D

It's already there. :D See http://www.gentoo.org/doc/en/handbook/handbook-x86.xml?part=3&chap=1#doc_chap4.

As for packages, try searching for packages with "elog" in their name.
