HI, Biiiiig Problem
My samba PDC server runs fine... as long as I do not add new users. Adding the unix-user and samba-user is no problem.
BUT: When the user tries to join for the first time, Windows cannot create "\\ws1-iut\profiles\tester.pds".
If I turn on "guest only = Yes" and "guest ok = Yes" in the [profiles] share section, everything works fine.
The dir /home/smb/profiles is chmod 1757 so it should work.
Want to have a look at the smb.con ??
here it is: http://pc6-iut.medizin.uni-halle.de/smb.conf
ANY help is wellcome
Thank you

That must have something to do with how the users authenticate...is this some sort of windows system trying to create the file? With windows the user cannot authenticate as itself to create the profile because it has no profile to authenticate as...when you have it as guest it works because the user is initially authenticated as guest. Although I could be completely wrong. If it were possible to set up some type of scenario which allows guest but then somehow change the permissions in an automated process...I dunno. Maybe that can be of some help. _________________ Steve - Semper Fi |
