Hi,

The document at http://www.lifewithqmail.com/ explains all details of installation of qmail and related tools. How much of the procedure explained in that document does Gentoo complete ? What should I do more after emerging qmail and other tools into Gentoo?

Thanks.

I don't remember the details, but it wasn't difficult. The ebuild does a lot of things. All you need to do (if I remember correctly) is to edit a few config files.

The ebuild does pretty much everything. You'll need to edit some files in /var/qmail/alias and /var/qmail/control. Also the ebuild adds most of the major patches to qmail for you so you can run it on ext3/resier/xfs filesystems with it flaking out which makes the ebuild worth it for that fact alone.

Which packages do you offer with default qmail dependencies? And anything more that I should know?..

not sure what you're asking. The ebuild will install daemontools and usci-tcp or whatever it's called as prerequisites to installing qmail.

As far as programs that require qmail, it's not really an issue. Any MTA that I can think of installs a /usr/sbin/sendmail binary which is what most programs will use to do their relaying.
