Hi guy,
Same problem here, when I plug my external hard drive by USB, the automount not work.
I think that my problem is udev aren't create /dev/sdb1 because if I make a ls -l /dev/sdb* I have just /dev/sdb but not /dev/sdb and sdb1 for the first partition.
I don't understand why it's not properly create a nod in /dev/
Sorry for my bad English I start the learning
Precision : if I use the terminal to mount manual, I don't mount again for the same problem, the nod sdb1 is not create.
Thanks in advance for your help. _________________ Macbook Pro Unibody 9.1 - Kernel 4.4.6 - Awesome 3.5 |

Hi,
last time I had a problem with automount, when installing Gnome 2.30 it was in fact caused by my kernel config. I had this message when emerging udev:
Code: | * CONFIG_IDE: should not be set. But it is.
* Please check to make sure these options are set correctly.
* Failure to do so may cause unexpected problems. |
In the kernel config there is this section to do with IDE devices:
device drivers->ATA/ATAPI/MFM/RLL
This section (CONFIG_IDE) is being depreciated. With the latest kernels (mine is 2.6.32-r7) you are supposed to use:
device-drivers->Serial ATA (prod) and Parallel ATA (experimental) drivers
This last one is the CONFIG_ATA section. So although my hd is a sata drive, my DVDrom and burner drives are IDE. IDE is now called PATA, so I just had to select AMD/Nvidia pata from the menu under config_ata in addition to my sata driver and deselecting the old ATA (config_ide) stuff.
You should also stick to the stable dbus and maybe look at removing hal. This depends on which xorg server you are using. I am running xorg-server 1.7.6 which still needs hal for keyboard and mouse. Nothing else needs hal, so I have set -hal in the global use flags and enabled it again in my package.use file for xorg-server. xorg-server 1.8x has done away with hal completely.
So it is possible your automount issue is not caused by udev...
