Hi,
the problem seems quite common: Flash has no sound here (it did a couple of days ago, but who knows...), while everything else has. I read a lot of posts for that but none of the various solutions (e.g. reinstalling nspluginwrapper, installing alsa-plugins[pulseaudio], installing libflashsupport, ...) helped, so I hope you can give me a hint
Here's the scenario:
- ~amd64
- adobe-flash 10.1.53.64
- nspluginwrapper 1.3.0
- firefox 3.6.6
- chromium 5.0.375.99
- pulseaudio 0.9.21.2-r1
The problem occurs in both firefox and chromium: Flash works fine, but has no sound. So it probably is flash's and not the browsers' fault.
Code: | igel@Garten ~ % chromium

I also tried blacklisting modules of unused sound devices (I have an onboard chipset that I don't use), but it didn't help.
Thanks in advance

for me, following solution worked:
Code: | emerge alsa-plugins |
with pulseaudio USE-flag of course.
next, create/modify (/etc/asound.conf):
Quote: | pcm.!default {
type pulse
}
ctl.!default {
type pulse
} |
just as stated in http://www.pulseaudio.org/wiki/PerfectSetup#ALSAApplications.
at least on my machine, I can watch now youtube WITH sound again! works for [/list]firefox and chromium |

Hello,
first of all, I want to thank you for your replies and apologize for me taking so long to respond!
@PaulBredbury: I tried your config file and played a bit with the settings, but it didn't help
@schwarzygesetzlos: Your solution did the trick!
Thanks

http://www.youtube.com/html5 deals with a test of html 5 support for WebM. This requires webkit-gtk support in the gstreamer plugins iirc my attempt
At present I can play the video but am having alsa issues. Stairway to Heaven in WebM if you want to test yours http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w9TGj2jrJk8 |
