Hi, I own a white macbook 5,2. I have been running gentoo on it for over a year now, but I have never been able to get both cores functioning. I have tried multiple linux livecd's and installations, and they all give the same problem - I cannot even boot unless I append acpi=off or nolapic noapic to the kernel - both of which disable smp.
I have tried linux on other macbooks and everything works fine.
Does anyone else have gentoo installed on a macbook 5,2?
I am at my wits end.
One post I found suggested that in order to get both acpi and smp functioning I needed to boot straight out of efi (at the moment I am using refit and lilo). I have tried both elilo and grub2 and cannot get either of them to function. Any ideas at all would be helpful.
