OpenOffice
Code:
[ebuild   R   ] app-office/openoffice-3.2.0  USE="cups dbus java ldap nsplugin pam (-aqua) -bash-completion -binfilter -debug -eds -gnome -gstreamer -gtk -kde (-kdeenablefinal) -mono -odk -opengl -templates" LINGUAS="en_GB en_ZA

Thunderbird
Code:
[ebuild   R   ] mail-client/thunderbird-3.0.4-r1  USE="dbus ldap lightning -alsa -bindist -crypt -custom-optimization -gnome -mozdom -startup-notification -system-sqlite" LINGUAS="en_GB

I have a strange problem with trying to send a document as email with OpenOffice. If Thunderbird is currently running and I try and send a document as an email nothing happens. If I close Thunderbird down and try to send a document as email again it works fine, ie. OpenOffice attaches the document to an email with Thunderbird. The strange thing is that if I start OpenOffice from the command line;

Code:
/usr/bin/oocalc

then try to send a document as email with Thunderbird currently running it works fine.
I have tried removing the /home/user/.ooo3/ folder and let OpenOffice recreate it when it is first started but that hasn't helped.

My feeling is that it is a problem with OpenOffice purely because of the fact that Thunderbird can remain open at all times and if I open a document by double-clicking on it and try send a document as email it doesn't work, but if I open OpenOffice from the command line and try again it does attach itself fine within Thunderbird.

Does anybody have any suggestions, it would be much appreciated!!!

Thanks.

I have a couple of suggestions.

1. If you compiled OO, emerge openoffice-bin and see if that works better.

2. Keep it simple: create new mail messages from T-bird and attach OO docs from the composition window.
