This has been discussed somewhere in forums. There is a bug in CUPS ebuild due to which pdf filter is not being build.
The offending line in /usr/portage/net-print/cups/cups-1.3.11-r2.ebuild
--with-pdftops=/usr/bin/pdftops
which somehow does not work with the full path line. If one changes it to
--with-pdftops=pdftops
then rebuilds the digest
ebuild cups-1.3.11-r2.ebuild digest
and reemerge cups, then everything works.
I think the bug is corrected in unstable cups-1.4, but somehow sits in the stable branch for over two months now. It also causes chromium print to fail (since it generates pdf's)
PS, right, this is bug https://bugs.gentoo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=309901 |
