|
|
After upgrading to net-print/cups-1.4.4 sometime ago (required by dev-python/pycups-1.9.51 which is required kde-base/system-config-printer-kde-4.4.4 which itself is a dependency of @kdeadmin-4.4) I noticed that my printer would not print anymore. Downgrading back to net-print/cups-1.3.11-r2 and my printer seems to work fine, unfortunately I installed KDE-4.4 using sets so if I downgrade cups I will also need to uninstall kde-base/system-config-printer-kde-4.4.4 and dev-python/pycups-1.9.51 and remove it's entry in the KDEAdmin-4.4 set file.
I have a Epson Stylus CX7400 All-In-One printer connected through USB using the Gutenprint 5.1.4 drivers. |

Did you check cups log files? Since it is a USB printer remove (rmmod) the usb printer kernel module, restart cups and try again. _________________ Hello 911? How are you? |

restarting cups or removing/readding the printer module (usblp) didn't seem to work. This is what was in the error log

First of all you should not use usblp at all with this version of cups. Regarding the messages related to pstoraster I would re-emerge app-text/ghostscript and try all over again. _________________ Hello 911? How are you? |

why would I not use usblp? is it deprecated? IF not usblp then what driver do I use? Also I assume you meant app-text/ghostscript-gpl? |

Somehow for cups, yes.

Cups should manage this for you.

So I removed the usblp module, restarted cupsd then proceed to remove the printer from cups using the cups web interface. What I noticed was that cups was no longer able to detect the printer. Turning back on the usblp kernel module didn't seem to help either. |

since noo ne seems to have a fix for this I decided to downgrade back to net-print/cups-1.3.11-r1 until I can find a fix for this.
The only problem is that now everytime I do a emerge world I get this message.
