do you have an adequat solution for keyboard focus? because if i do anything outside steam i loose it and never get it back.
and when i start steam, my xmms (better the mixer volume) gets 100% and this is just a little loud |
You found my weak spot
I don't know how to fix the keyboard focus , I just don't do anything else when playing
Maybe steam adjusts the volume as configured in your CS audio menu. But a easy fix is to just put the volume on your audioset down and always work at 100% |

Yeah! Noiz, you're the man ;D
It works for me, too!
One small problem, though:
How can I access the Console (The ^ key doesn't work) ?
(edit) Oh and one other thing: The Steam window is always-on-top and on all Desktops if not minimized. Can this be changed anyhow? _________________ I don't know with what weapons World War III will be fought - but World War IV will be fought with sticks and stones. -- Albert Einstein |

I used Noiz's excelent guide to install CVS wine. The menus all work fine, and I can start DoD! But when I try to connect to a server, it fails during "Verifing Game Resources"
Anyone have a suggestion? I don't get any error messages, it just goes to never-never land... |

AFAIK Steam already _IS_ pay to play, but not for single users. Gaming / net cafes and lan events have to pay. |

Sorry it took so long for me to answer..
I don't have any problem getting in my console and after seeing blue.sca saying it works when binding to the p key, maybe you are using a international keyboard layout in xfree that gives problems when pushing the ~ key?
About the always on top: You can use the wine desktop to have all those windows in just one window. You can then simply minimize it to see your real desktop.
telloc: Does it hang or just quits to the desktop? You can try Step 6 from overflowed's guide if you have not done so already.
My CVS method is not really needed any more for steam, there is a ebuild for the 20031118 release in portage.
Simply emerge wine as following as it has not been marked stable yet:
emerge /usr/portage/app-emulation/wine/wine-20031118.ebuild |

hey guys,
I am still having a bit of a snag. I have followed all the instruction on the web sites and some tips on this forum as well, yet, when I launch steam.exe, and log in, it still hangs when trying to download content to play a game, like cstrike.
Any ideas. I have the CVS from 11/27/03 and no go.
Thanks a million

I can't get keyboard focus on the Steam login window. I tried the little right-click paste trick and that didn't work. Any Ideas? |
