about IBM R40 2682 3V1 ...when emerge ...it cause crash..??

when I emerge -e world...
I always got a crash.....the screen has no change...
I touch the keyboard but the system don't respond anything!!!
Who can let me know....what's wrong!?

I had a similar problem using an IBM a31, seems as though it would freeze during long compiles if using more than 1 thread. You could see if putting
MAKEOPTS="-j1"
in your make.conf does any difference
