Hi,

I get a kernel panic, when I try to compile Openoffice. It seems to be REISERFS related...

Here is what I get :

Code:
not syncing : <4> REISERFS Panic: vs-6030 check_internal_block_head : invalid item number level=2,nr_items=229,free-space=64104 tolkey

Any idea ?

You should backup and reiserfsck the disk... Usually errors like that indicate some corruption on disk and not related to what you're saving to disk...

eccerr0r is probably right. However, first, is your gentoo on reiserfs?
A one line description is not much to go on. Does dmesg inform of anything else?
The last twice I did a reiser fsck on two separate systems, they ended up bundled in a thousand folders, basically trashed the systems.

Before running fsck, check with badblocks and smartmontools for any defective sectors on the disk. Running fsck on a disk with bad sectors is a sure recipe for disaster.
