At the moment I am looking for a new all-in-one (AIO) printer with network interface.
Requirements:
- full Linux support
- Ethernet LAN interface
- automatic document feeder (ADF), duplex scanning
- duplex, borderless printing
- direkt hard copy function
- 250 EUR hard limit, German market price
Amount of pages per year: low
Page types: mostly text, but sometimes also colour graphics.
Regarding Linux support only HP printers come to mind, and so only two printers seem to meet my requirements:
- HP OfficeJet Pro 6500 Wireless
- HP Photosmart Premium C309a
But which one? Comparison is cumbersome since one has to dive into the manuals. And I could not find reliable review sources.
Therefore I plainly ask the audience: Does anyone use one of the mentioned printers? How do they perform? And are there alternative solutions I missed? _________________ Tempus fugit.

I use Epson.
Has had good Linux support for years.

How about Brother MFC-490CW? Well, Brother is the only company I know which also offers Linux drivers for their printers.
I use Canon printers myself, but for best results you need to buy drivers from TurboPrint.de - best proprietary Linux software I ever bought. Also I think Canon offers the best quality photo prints of all.
As for HP, absolutely hate their printers. Won't ever buy HP again. But that's just me, and the ruined carpet. ![Smile :)](images/smiles/icon_smile.gif) |

Thank you for your answers.
We did some requirements engineering at home and thus the ADF requirement was canceled. Regarding our small paper-to-be-scanned volume this can be done by organisational means (stand next to scanner, flip pages manually), a BASh script (press s to scan to pdf) and a flatbed scanner.
Regarding the remaining requirements with full Linux support at highest priority and the occasional graphics page now and then I narrowed the field to HP's Photosmart series. A short visit to a local store including haptic interaction with some printers led to the choice of *drumroll*...
- HP Photosmart Premium Wireless (C309g).
Within this month I can deliver a review of this device as well as of the installation procedure. _________________ Tempus fugit.
