Slow terminal with kernel2.6-test5

I have sucessfully compile the last developpment-kernel and quasi-everything work. Except I have a few problem. The main problem is when I'm in my gnome-terminal and type "ps aux", the output scroll very very slow and use much more CPU that in kernel2.4...

What can cause that?

And, if you have time, can you point me on some good tutorial to make my cd-writer work without SCSI please?
