For several reasons, I want to move from physical partition to lvm.
I've build myself an initrd (which was painfull and borring to update) which is working but I would like to know if there is a way to build the initrd automacally using a tool. Something like mkinitrd. I saw it's available in portage but is it usable in gentoo? _________________ There are 10 types of people in the world: those who understand binary, and those who don't. |

I always just used genkernel, but it might not be the most efficient way. But it worked for me when I was using a system with LVM. _________________ Ian Walker

in fact, i just discovered that genkernel can be used only to generate the initrd and not the kernel, that what I wanted. _________________ There are 10 types of people in the world: those who understand binary, and those who don't. |

it works with genkernel.
Some friends of mine told me to not use genkernel but more designed for generating livecd, is that true? Should build the initrd myself? _________________ There are 10 types of people in the world: those who understand binary, and those who don't. |
