Good afternoon,
It appears that I am too stupid to install gentoo using genkernel and hotplug.
I am doing a generic install using the x86 docs on this site onto a Seagate 15K3 hooked up to a 2940UW (slow, I know). I have the same results with ac-sources and gentoo-sources for the kernel.
On first boot, it detects my controller during "scanning for storage devices" and finds the controller and drive connected to the controller. It then goes into the endless loop of "SCSI host 1 abort" and "reseting host 1 device 0 (pid22)" and "trying harder".
All the threads on groups.google sem to mention IDE->SCSI cdrom emulation and the search feature on this forum was less than helpful. I can build a kernel the old fashioned way (and get the controller to work), but I always seem to mess something else up along the way (like agp or my ethernet or something stupid and random) so I figured I'd try the easy way.
Any insight into the cause of my problem would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you for your time,
