Hello all,
I am strongly considering purchasing this laptop. My Dell Inspiron 6400, although still happily humming along with gentoo, is suffering from the notorious lid hinge issue, and I've tightened the screws (and implemented other redneck-type fixes) that the plastic and threads are so shot nothing more can be done.
Does anyone in the community already own this laptop? It uses the Intel HM55 Express Chipset, which should be supported with modern kernels, but I'm concerned about some of the other devices in the machine, such as the sound, wireless and other components. Without having physical access to the machine, booting with a gentoo install cd and running lspci -v I really don't know what I'm getting into here.
Any suggestions, recommendations or guidance regarding this purchase? _________________ ~g
