|
|
hello, I was running an older version of phpMyAdmin (last stable in x86, dont remember which version) and just recently upgraded to 3.3.5.1. I am having a problem where I cannot even get the php setup page to connect to the database, it tells me: "Could not connect to MySQL Server"

odd, because the previous version of phpMyAdmin worked beautifully and all my sites using the mysql database locally are operating just fine. i've tried restarting mysql which made no difference. i don't know what config to change, since this feature I am accessing should work out of the box.
help? _________________ John5788 |

I'm not an expert at all but a fool question:
in the screenshot, you connect on a local mysql database and you use a tcp connection, is this correct? don't you have to use a socket instead unless you configured the mysql accordingly? _________________ There are 10 types of people in the world: those who understand binary, and those who don't. |

I tried both the tcp and socket settings, along with mysql and mysqli extensions for php (tried all 4 combinations). none work. _________________ John5788 |

must have been a bug with the out of box setup for 3.3.5.1, because I updated to 3.3.6 and it works just fine. _________________ John5788 |
