I can get the LiveCD to boot to single user mode off of the install CD. I am able to make the partitions on the hard disk drive. When I try to place the filesystem on the partitions mkfs hangs.
I have tried running "mkfs.ext3 /dev/sda1" and "mkfs.ext2 /dev/sda1"
Both hang at:
Writing superblocks and filesystem accounting information:
I have let this sit there for about a day before.
Any ideas? Is there another filesystem I need to place on these partitions? |

I just had the same error on a Intel server with a mirrored SCSI disk, and I rebooted with the non-SMP kernel (to be safe), tried mkreiserfs on the partition instead and after that mke2fs -j /dev/sda3 and it worked. maybe there's some kind of combo you try with there, different boot parameters, kernels and filesystems.
hope it helps! _________________ + adopt an unanswered post today!
