|

Hi,
I've encountered a really annoying problem with automounting. I added the auto and user options to /etc/fstab (to the cdrom line, there is 1 other option: ro) so that every CD/DVD would be mounted automaticly. When I insert a dvd, a pop-up window appears saying the mounting is in progress, but it's not... The whole desktop environment (KDE 3.5) dies: no respond to K-menu, to ALT-F2 etc. However the system itself is OK, CTRL-ALT-BACKSPACE kills KDE and I get a fully running tty.
The corresponding line in fstab:
<fs> <mountpoint> <type> <opts> <dump/pass>
/dev/cdrom /mnt/cdrom auto auto,user,ro 0 0
However if I change the options to "noauto,ro" I can mount manually which takes only few seconds, so I'm sure that my dvd is OK.
What can be the problem?

kaszpo,
fine that you could fix the problem by your own, with only this little information.
When i've written my post, i could use only one hand, so i tried to make it short.
The other hand was needed to hold on my baby tomcat on my fold, to prevent slipping down, and scratching my legs.
Regards, Andy. _________________ If you want to see a Distro done right, compile it yourself! |
