hi community,
i am having a problem with logging into kde4. whenever any user is logging into kde4, the computer hangs a little bit. the dmesg output is like this:
Code: | ata1.00: exception Emask 0x0 SAct 0x0 SErr 0x0 action 0x6 frozen

this problem occurs since i installed a new gentoo on my system. i ran my previous setup with kde-4.4.4 and gentoo-sources-2.6.32. the only difference now is kde-4.4.5 and gentoo-sources 2.6.35-r4. i will post /proc/config.gz and emerge --info:
zcat /proc/config.gz

emerge --info

any help would be appreciated.
regards,
onelove
PS: the problem only occurs when logging into kde4. everything else is working fine!

EDIT: mmm on second thought I don't think that in my case I received an exception, I guess it's not the same problem. Do you use pm-utils?
The same thing happened to me when logging into my gnome environment.
For me the culprit turned out to be the new pm-utils-1.4.1. That version introduces some power saving features, it might have to do with that.
Downgrading to version 1.3.0 solved the issue for me.
Hope this helps! |

Code: | # echo ">sys-power/pm-utils-1.3.0-r2" >> /etc/portage/package.mask |
did solve the problem. thank you very much! i will post a bug report on the bugtracker, too.
