[kde-testing] and [kde-crazy] KDE4 overlays thread (part 5)

I had sort of abandoned kde-live or anything else in the overlay since I ran into problems, and also since the portage kde-4.6.x's have been pretty good.

Anyway, now that kde-4.7 beta1 is released http://kde.org/announcements/announce-4.7-beta1.php I though I might get back into the overlay on my kde testing partition. Has it gotten more usable lately, and some of the git-migration vs. svn problems are settled?

Are the 4.7 betas going to be in the overlay, and what is the status of kde-live these days? I had been running kde-live for ages, and having lots of fun until the recent problems.

EDIT: Hmmm. Just realized 4.6.80 is 4.7 beta1....

Kdepimlibs-4.6.80 failed to emerge and I found the solution here. Reemerged akonadi-server and it worked fine.

It build fine here against app-office/akonadi-server-1.5.80 from overlay.

I just did a fresh gentoo amd64 install on my testing partition, and tried to install kde-4.7. After a quite confusing time with various blocks and semantic-desktop USE flag enable/disable conflicts with kdelibs and other packages, I finally got an emerge -pv1 @kde-4.7 to give me a clean install list. Seems a lot of my problem was I didn't have the semantic desktop flag enabled globally in make.conf. Once I realized that (since I had used the kde-desktop profile on the fresh gentoo install, I didn't think of it right away) things went better, but still had to modify keywords and unmask for a few packages for 9999 versions- weird.

Anyway, now it completes 31 of 261 and bails out on kde-base/kdepim-icons-4.6.80 (can't find package to download).

There is some problem with krosspython - it cannot be found in any of the tarballs.

kdebase-startkde works fine.installed it to day and even:

Yeah there is 9999 with it's git repo, but there is no 4.6.80 version in the tarballs.

I've a problem witch phonon backend using kde-live packages from kde overlay - no matter which package - phonon-gstreamer, phonon-vlc, phonon-xine - all of these gets error in configuration stage:

4.6.4 and kdepim suite final released! well, in theory no tarballs yet.

EDIT: In portage now. But there's a wrong checksum for kdebase-workspace-4.6.4.tar.bz2 in all the Manifests.

How is it working aside from that? I'm currently back to git e17 due to crashing plasma-workspace and thinking about giving a KDE beta the chance once more.

Although we should have 4.6.90 already 5 days ago...?

Heck, I'm upgrading now anyway. e17 is always there for fallback, and I don't need to invest more time to get 4.6.4 up and running.

EDIT: kdepim-icons-4.6.80 tarball is supposed to be missing? EDIT2: Ok, none of those is available yet.

I'm trying to gather any piece of information about that, but with no success.

kde-packager mailing list is visible only for members and that's probably the place where it's being discussed.
