hi there,

just installing my new asus g73j notebook i stumbled over an ati driver problem :

kdm.log

Code:
X.Org X Server 1.7.7
Release Date: 2010-05-04
X Protocol Version 11, Revision 0
Build Operating System: Linux 2.6.34-gentoo-r6 x86_64
Current Operating System: Linux localhost 2.6.34-gentoo-r6 #1 SMP Mon Sep 13 16:46:16 CEST 2010 x86_64
Kernel command line: root=/dev/ram0 init=linuxrc real_root=/dev/sda3
Build Date: 14 September 2010  08:19:53AM

Current version of pixman: 0.18.2
   Before reporting problems, check http://wiki.x.org
   to make sure that you have the latest version.
Markers: (--) probed, (**) from config file, (==) default setting,
   (++) from command line, (!!) notice, (II) informational,
   (WW) warning, (EE) error, (NI) not implemented, (??) unknown.
(==) Log file: "/var/log/Xorg.0.log", Time: Wed Sep 15 10:09:23 2010
(==) Using config file: "/etc/X11/xorg.conf"
(WW) fglrx: No matching Device section for instance (BusID PCI:0@1:0:1) found
/usr/bin/X: symbol lookup error: /usr/lib64/xorg/modules/drivers/fglrx_drv.so: undefined symbol: GlxInitVisuals2D

as i said before this is a fresh install,

kernel 2.6.34-gentoo-r6
xorg-server 1.7.7-r1
ati-drivers-10.8 (portage)

none of my packages are unstable or unmasked !!

thanks for suggestions and hints ...

EDIT : forgot to mention that i used some ati installer (ati-config or so) and used the option --initial, i am not shure if it is just a "BusID PCI:0@1:0:1" config problem or a real - in the ati drivers "symbol lookup error: /usr/lib64/xorg/modules/drivers/fglrx_drv.so: undefined symbol: GlxInitVisuals2D"
