Hello avx,

I did try ubuntulooks-themes, as I searched this forum, but that was not found...
(I am still newbie)

So here is tre output of what you suggested, and in was new to emerge (I did not have it installed)

Code:
C6820s ~ # emerge -av x11-themes/gtk-engines-ubuntulooks

These are the packages that would be merged, in order:

Calculating dependencies... done!

Total: 1 package (1 new), Size of downloads: 346 kB

Would you like to merge these packages? [Yes/No] yes

Am I missing C compiler of sort?
Or do I have it, but the emerging files are corrupted?
How can I get that to work?

Thank you.

No, you should have (at least) gcc installed. Have you recently made changes to the system?

Please post the outputs of
Code:
gcc-config -l
,
Code:
emerge -pv system
,
Code:
tail -n 100 /var/log/emerge.log
and your /etc/make.conf

Somehow your toolchain has been f*cked up it seems, so please post any info about your last actions available.

Ola avx, thank you for your time,

Several days ago I wanted to update my system, after over 2 months (I am on Gentoo cca 6 months, less, before that 2 years on ubuntu)
https://forums.gentoo.org/viewtopic-t-844349.html

Just yesterday I repeated the:
Code:

# emerge --update --deep --newuse --keep-going world
# emerge --depclean
# revdep-rebuild

5 or 6 files could not be emerged, and I believe 2 were succesfuly emerged.

After first attempt of update I do not have flash anymore in my FF:
https://forums.gentoo.org/viewtopic-t-844532.html
I followed these steps, but this does not work:
http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Managing+the+Flash+Plugin?style_mode=inproduct#Updating_Flash
(I had to make plugin folder, since there was none, but still does not work)

Also FF crashes as I play javascripted sounds that I am learning to code.

Other than that, gentoo has been nice to me (althow I need to set up wireless, bluetooth, printing, sharing...)

Here is the output you asked for, it does not look promising:
gcc-config: Active gcc profile is invalid!
Code:
grom@C6820s ~ $ su -
Password:

Please try
Code:
gcc-config 1 && env-update ; source /etc/profile
In theory, that should give you back a working compiler, try it out with mergin the ubuntulooks-engine as described above.

If this works, I'd recommand an
Code:
emerge -e system
which can take some time, depending on your machine(for me ~30min on an i7-system), which should give you a fully working base-system again.

Code:
C6820s ~ # gcc-config 1 && env-update ; source /etc/profile
 * Switching native-compiler to x86_64-pc-linux-gnu-4.4.3 ...

 * Your gcc has a bug with GCC_SPECS.
 * Please re-emerge gcc.
 * http://bugs.gentoo.org/68395

>>> Regenerating /etc/ld.so.cache...                                      [ ok ]

 * If you intend to use the gcc from the new profile in an already
 * running shell, please remember to do:

 *   # source /etc/profile

>>> Regenerating /etc/ld.so.cache...
C6820s ~ #

Can I do:
Code:
emerge -e system

as you suggested as 2nd step, or shoul I reemerge gcc?

Is
Code:
emerge gcc
right syntax?

Code:
emerge -e system
would be my prefered way, since it compiles the complete base-system including gcc. This might be unneeded, since I can't tell from where you're problem resulted, but it can't do any harm besides using some cpu-cycles.

Ola avx,
and thanks for sticking with me for so long.

I went with 'emerge gcc' before your post...
Than I went with `emerge -av x11-themes/gtk-engines-ubuntulooks`

Now I am left only with this as I run gedit in terminal:
Code:
(gedit:4271): Gtk-WARNING **: Unable to locate theme engine in module_path: "clearlooks",

Searching gentoo portage for clearlooks I noticed that gtk-engines-ubuntulooks comes up.

Is this a big issue? I mean this warning?
I would be most glad if I could get rid of it..

So your compiler is working again, good :)

Quote:

No, this warning is harmless. It just means that your used gtk-theme may not be displayed as it is intended to look. This is most likely not even a loss in terms of functionality and for sure no risk of security or data loss. If you want this warning to go away, you need to install the clearlooks-engine, but as you can see here, the ebuilds are 'dead' for a reason, so most likely your used theme is either pretty old or broken.

If you wish, you could post your theme's gtkrc for others to have a look, I can't help with that, though.
