Hi all. I have a peculiar issue with KDE file copying. I have copied a 24.2 GiB folder to a network drive, I have run diff -r on the folder and it's copy and there are no differences, and running a search for * in the two folders returns the same number of files (7000+).
Now, if I right click on the local folder in dolphin, and select properties, I am told it is 24.2 GiB and contains 6395 files. Adding the number of folders to the count (600+) gives me exactly the total the search returned, and all is good. If I do the same on what otherwise appears to be an identical copy I get a size of 20.9 GiB and 5686 files, and I also appear to be a few hundred folders short. What the hell is going on? The only thing I could think of is hidden files or something, but a quick test shows me that they are being counted by all applications (I ticked "show hidden files" in the find application)
Any ideas?? _________________ # "Hmm, sounds like your system froze up."

Are you doing this as a normal user or as root?
Maybe your user don't have the permission to write some file on network share. _________________ proud user of faKeDE-4.7.3 -> back to windowmaker -> moved to LXQt |

Everything (including dolphin) done as root. I am 99% sure all the files are actually there, since I trust diff+find (which both agree that the folders are the same) more than I trust the kde properties panel. The question really is why the hell is kde miscounting my files/folders...
There is that 1% chance that maybe the folders are actually different after all though... _________________ # "Hmm, sounds like your system froze up."
