I'm running a AMD Athalon 1900, 512 mb ram, but when my computer is being used heavily my house/keyboard stops responding. It stops for a second or two, then starts working again.
Is this something the low-latency patch would fix?

im having same problem.
uhm i havent tested yet (still in process of installing gnome) but in the kernel config i did enable low latency and preemptible, forgot where they are located but check for those.
as well as you can search groups.google.com for hdparm and set that as well, put that setting in a local startup script because hdparm doesnt save, etc, you have to set that every reboot.
try those 3 things and lemme know how it goes, hopefully this will fix my problem as well. _________________ .. ...kemical. ... .. .. |

ahh, a hdparm test gets me like 3.5mb/s, so looks like I forgot to add the via chipset support. I'll recompile with that, and premeptable kernel, and see how that works.
