pulseaudio do I need it or is there something better?

I recently realized that I was streaming a compressed audio stream over my nic. I could not figure our what it was but assumed it was dangerous. it was streaming to 224.0.0.56. killing pulseaudio ended it. I actually noted it due to my ipod touch being unable to access they web via my router. It was pulseaudio.

Is my machine compromised and what was that URL?
