I maintain two small office networks with 15-20 clients each.

A lot of the people working in this office like to listen to radio streams over the internet, and often several people are listening to the same internet radio station over their headphones.

It kinda seems like a waste of traffic to have multiple individual connections to one and the same audio stream. Sure, the amount of bandwidth is negligable, but is there a way to optimise this? Something like a local streaming mirror or cache? So rather than have the individual users connect to the radio site, they just connect to a local server, which simply restreams one or several radio stations.

Any suggestions on how I could go about doing this?

Maybe using Icecast?
