lo-jay,

i got the same error as you and this is cause you missed to create the subdirectory files into your for example /usr/local/portage/net-p2p/wxbitcoin Directory with the recommended Makefile from you posted bugs.gentoo.org thread down there.

With this Makefile it builds fine.

Bye the way do you use some GPU Mining-Tools? Or a group that mines together and share the benefit?

Regards

Chris

I use DiabloMiner with AMD-Stream-SDk and an ATI-5870, works well.
In my opinion the euilds are not worth the effort, just stick with DiabloMiner which is java binary in any way.

Best regards!

I used that ebuild which Luke-Jr posted there - wxbitcoin-0.3.22.ebuild (bugs.gentoo.org No 32891 Post 30).

To got this working you need this in your /etc/make.conf
Code:
PORTDIR_OVERLAY="/usr/local/portage"

1.Create the necessary directorys:
Code:
# make -p /usr/local/portage/net-p2p/wxbitcoin/files

2.ave this attachmend No 276715 (i linked it above) as wxbitcoin-0.3.22.ebuild in folder /usr/local/portage/net-p2p/wxbitcoin/.

3.Download the Attachment No 276719 and save as /usr/local/portage/net-p2p/wxbitcoin/files/Makefile.gentoo (bugs.gentoo.org No 32891 Post 32).

4.
Code:
# cd /usr/local/portage/net-p2p/wxbitcoin/
# ebuild wxbitcoin-0.3.22.ebuild manifest

5. emerge wxbitcoin

(You have to add some lines to packages.keywords too.)

On a related note, cpuminer from the same overlay fails to fetch its sources. Has been like that for a while now.

Any news on getting gentoo portage up to speed with Bitcoin and all the related software (miners, ATI SDK etc)?
This is starting to be a bit embarrassing :)

What is the issue? AMD-Stream-SDK is available from pentoo-overlay and gentoo-buglist.
Diablo-Miner is plain Java bundle, so there is little benefit from an ebuild, just extract and run it.

Works well here!

Diabolo-Miner is a joke compared to cgminer but lets forget this for now ;)

My problem is that the bleeding-edge gentoo has no working bitcoin client in official portage etc. Even Ubuntu has it O_O

Looks like this file is full of outdated commands. I am not a programmer so all I can do, is comment out some lines and see what happens.
Hopefully someone with experience can fixt this init.d script file and post it here.

BTW, for start, you need to fix your /etc/bitcoin/bitcoin.conf file
Mine looks like this:

# http://www.bitcoin.org/smf/index.php?topic=644.0
rpcuser=xxx
rpcpassword=xxx
server=1
allowreceivebyip=1 #you probably do not need this
