Every time I try to emerge or go to a website with my new Gentoo install, it always says it cannot find the server. Basically, I don't think it's resolving any servers at all. However, when I installed it, I could emerge fine using the LiveCD, even when I chroot'd into it. Also, my previous install, that I had to get rid, worked absolutely fine.
My setup:
This PC (Windows XP) with 2 nics. First connected to San Diego State University school network, second to switch. It provides basic internet sharing and is my main computer. 192.168.0.1. Can ping 192.168.0.2.
Second computer with one nice, also plugged into switch. 192.168.0.2. Can ping 192.168.0.1.
The SDSU firewall prevents any outgoing connections from happening, except on port 80. However, this did not affect my previous install on the second computer, and it used to work completely fine. I've got no clue why it doesn't work now and why I can only get it to work when I chroot from the LiveCD.
I'm a complete linux noob, so please help! |
