Hi All:
I had this problem where when I started my desktop I'd get mulitpl xfce4-panel sessions started with all the associated plugins. I'd have to go through with either xfce4-taksmanager or qps and kill each session individually until there was one left and it would work fine. I have finally found out what caused this.....
i had xfce4 set to "save sessions for future logins" and I have the xfce4-panel set for session startup. xfce4-panel appears NOT to check if its already running so this starts at least 2 xfce4-panel processes...for every plugin you have set up to start in startup, another xfce4-panle will start.
once I removed xfce4-panel from the session-startup (un ticked the box), the problem went away.
A good tip for new players.
Cheers,
