Why are framebuffers on sparc hardware incapable of changing resolutions on the fly?

Can you be more specific? If the xf86-video- driver support randr-1.2, then you should be able to change resolution.

OK, why can't both the cg6 and ffb devices change resolutions on the fly?

It looks like neither supports randr-1.2.

They've both received nothing but the most basic changes for the last 5 years or so. No one is actively maintaining them.

Thanks, I should have looked in there in the first place :) I hope XRandR could be supported one day.
