|
|
New gentoo user here, was browsing through forums and saw this one...figured I'd post a link to a game that I ported to linux.
The game is Marble Blast...and it rocks, if I don't say so myself The demo is available from the following site, and the full version can be downloaded for $14.95. 3D hardware acceleration is required. It works best with recent nvidia/ati cards, but people have gotten it working on older cards.

Orbz, a game that I ported to Linux, was released today. Also available are a Mac and Windows version. Fun game...I've been playing it for months
Best results obtained with a nvidia/ati OpenGL card and their binary drivers.

Its not a new game as such but its a fantastic game and its not immediately obvious how to get it working.
Its basically worms in realtime but its very addictive and very fun. You can play it with as many players as you want on a LAN and you can play with 1-4 players on the same machine if you can squash them onto the keyboard/joysticks.
The homepage is at http://nil.sourceforge.net. There hasn't been development for quite a while so you have to use the cvs source for it to work with GCC 3.2.
I have made an ebuild for it but as you have to get the source code from cvs and I don't know how to make cvs based ebuild (read cba) just grab the cvs source by doing:
Code: | cvs -z3 -d:pserver:anonymous@cvs.sourceforge.net:/cvsroot/nil co nil |
Then just make an archive of the "nil" directory you get:
Code: | tar cjf nil.tar.bz2 nil |
Copy the archive to /usr/portage/distfiles.
Download my ebuild package from http://basic-rip.co.uk/tenpin/nil-1.0.tar.gz and extract it in /usr/portage/app-games
Make a digest for your source archive:
Code: | ebuild /usr/portage/app-games/nil/nil-1.0.ebuild digest |
Then go ahead and emerge nil. |

|
|
Hi everyone,
I've just released a game called Molecule Man, which is a port of a game I wrote for the ZX Spectrum back in 1986. It's fully open source and was written using Kylix 3 Open Edition.
If anyone's interested in giving it a whirl, it can be downloaded at www.robin.thompson99.btinternet.co.uk
Cheers,
Rob. |

not a new game release, but something useful that needs a higher profile: http://icculus.org/~ravage/
amongst other things he has on there the bonus packs for ut2003 repackaged as loki installers so we don't have to contend with the .exe only epicbonuspack and others
also: check out http://utpg.org for continued updates to the classic UT beyond version 436, I've noticed a few servers round now using the 451 patch _________________ Rarr. |

They are also working on OpenGlad-e(nhanced) and would probably want some help if you can contribute in any way.
There's no ebuild yet though... |
