Since monday Battle for Wesnoth 1.0 is out. At the moment the ebuild for 1.0 is masked. You can get the sources at http://www.wesnoth.org, too. The announcement is over here. I hope you enjoy the game. |

Americas Army 2.5 is due out in a couple of days, it is a long awaited release considering they skipped 2.4 for Linux and Mac. |

We just released Eternal Lands 1.1.2 which is mainly a bugfix release:
Changes:
1. Many bug fixes
2. The GUI was slightly improved, especially the visuals.
3. New maps and animals
4. Support for items cooldown, not activated on the server yet.

I just wrote an ebuild for a Subwar/Wing Commander-style submarine game called possible worlds. You can read about it on my blog or get the ebuild straight from bug 100528. |

|
|
Hey everyone, found this one a week or two ago. Some guy picked up the old Descent and D2 source code from the DXX projects and has been working on it recently. It seems to be more stable than DXX was, and there is a Linux port on the page within easy access that installed on my system without too much difficulty. It feels so good to be blasting robots in the tunnels again! Now if only I can get the Freespace code to work...
Here's the link to the page: http://dxx-rebirth.de/ (Despite the .de suffix, the site seems to be mainly in English.)
At some point in the near future I will try to post an ebuild.
Note: You do need the resource files from the original games. The README files tell you exactly what files you need. |

there also is d2x-xl on http://www.descent2.de (also in english)
you also need the game resources and place them in /usr/local/share/d2x-xl/ (and i think you also need to make all the filenames lowercase)
dont forget to get the permissions in that folder right... if you want to make savegames or pilot files as users the users MUST HAVE the permission to create files in that folder!
have fun with it
[offtopic]
and if youre interested in descent in general, some crazy german guy over at http://www.syberflex.de writes a completely new descent from scratch...
unfortunately its for windows and i have no idea about a linux port or something...
but you can watch nice videos. on the downloads page. the oldest are the first ones, the last one is the newest.

The updated ebuild is on bugzilla.
Incidentally, there's quite a few Doom 3 and Unreal Tournament 2004 mods on bugzilla, if anyone's interested in trying them out and posting feedback |

Allow me to add that D2X-XL is way more advanced, stable and feature-rich than D2X-Rebirth, while D1X-Rebirth is the program of choice for the die-hard Descent 1 fans. D2X-XL supports playing D1 missions too, but ofc as D1X-R is the direct D1 port, it is even closer to the original. _________________ karx11erx (a.k.a. Diedel)
