clickpad and tapbutton1=1 gives double-click

I have a laptop with the new clickpad and I applied Takashi Iwai's patch for x11-drivers/xf86-input-synaptics-1.2.1 and not the kernel. Now the Clickpad works as expected. A bit too much as expected though. If I enable the TapButton1 synaptics option I get a double left click when actually pressing the left button; one from the tap and one from the click. Although I could consider this as a feature and not a bug it annoys me and I'd like it fixed. However, I haven't been able to find any solution or workaround, like an option that restricts tapping to a specific area.

Any ideas?
