I am trying to understand how Xorg-server interprets configuration files
Looking at some of the previous thread on the subject I could find some naming like /etc/X11/xorg.conf.d/97-evdev.conf or /etc/env.d/90xsession.
Has the number used (in the example herebefore 97, 90) an effect on precedence?
And what exactly are the precedence rules?

the config files are read in order. the the numbers allow you enforce that in a simple and clean manner.
(the lower the number, the earlier it gets read)

No, the other way around. They are read in the order that "ls" lists. |
