Hello All,
I've just emerged openoffice and unlike other apps, I don't see any icons for it in KDE 3.0.2. Does this mean the package manager left this up to us? I've done a whereis openoffice and still can't find it.
Please bare with me as I'm still FRESH MEAT in linux. Any help would be much appreciated.
Thanks!

The install does not add desktop shortcuts for oo. There were a couple of threads discussing this. The program location is:
/opt/openoffice/program/soffice
or something like that.
I would suggest you emerge gentoolkit. Then, after installing a package, you can do:
Code: |
epm -ql <package_name>
|
and it will giveyou a list of files installed by the package. |

Yes it's located somewhere in /opt/openoffice
You should run it from there, and then you can do a per-user install.
Good luck |
