I have learned a lot about Linux in my year in a half using using some commands the basics, really I want to learn more.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tfT9zMo0WHw 8O

From that video I saw them using 21 computers all clustered together over the network and I am going to try to install Gentoo soon in a week. What I am wondering is how to cluster the computers without ssh which I don't think they are using? I want to be able to use a few 10/100 switches I have lying around doing simple things like just splitting up my Internet among my computers.(I know that is a bad way to put.) The other thing I want this cluster to be able to do is communicate between my Linux computers sharing the load. I have a Slackware computer which I use a lot which I am willing to switch to Gentoo. I have a Laptop I am also willing to switch to Gentoo. The only computer I can't switch is one that belongs to my brother, but I want to still be able to make them all communicate between each other load wise. 8)

I don't know much Internet protocol wise when it comes to ssh but if I really need to I could learn ssh.

(I have failed before on a Gentoo install, I got stuck on grub and went back to Slackware. )

From what I saw in this video :
* They are using distcc to share the build process.
* They are using a shared root directory (nfs I guess)

distcc will only work if all the computers are running the same OS.

I think (but I am not sure) it's impossible for now, except for some process that have been specially adapted to be share (like dvd::rip for example).
